Welcome to my site!
As a quick introduction, the site belongs to me, Shari Van Alsburg.
I am a professional photographer of rodeo, bull-riding, and the American west.
Rodeo has been an interest of mine since my very young years, and a profession since
the late 1980s.
Much of my rodeo work is the little seen part of these lifestyles:
the "stuff" that makes all this happen, such as the warm-up routine of the
cowboys behind the chutes as they ready for their rides. I also shoot in the
arena during many roughstock events and will have some of
these photos on this site in the future.
Please note, you will not find any "blood and guts" shots on this site. Why? Because I don't take those. I feel strongly - indeed it is my philosophy as a rodeo photographer - to commend the courage of the riders and the roughstock and not to sensationalize the toughness of this sport. I love these riders, the stock, as well as rodeo itself, and will not jeapordize their image or beliefs in any way. I hope you, as a fan, feel the same way.
